LAWBER

Privacy Policy

Version 2026-09-30

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information Lawber collects, why, who receives it, how long we keep it and what choices you have. Lawber is operated by StopScam LLC, 254 Chapman RD STE 208, Newark, Delaware, 19702, US (“we”, “us”).

It applies to the Lawber app, the website lawber.app and Lawber Support. Attorneys who provide services through Lawber handle client information they receive under their own professional obligations.

2. How we use it

  • To create and secure your account and sign you in with one-time codes.
  • To publish requests, show them to suitable attorneys, assign an attorney and run the service day (messages, calls, location sharing, arrival and completion).
  • To verify that attorneys are licensed and to check their license again periodically.
  • To authorize, charge, refund and pay out money, and to handle chargebacks.
  • To answer support requests, review problem reports and disputes and make decisions on them.
  • To send notifications you need about your requests and account, according to your notification settings.
  • To keep Lawber safe: prevent fraud and abuse, limit repeated attempts, investigate problems and keep records of important actions.
  • To meet legal obligations and to establish or defend legal claims.

3. AI features

Some Lawber features use an AI model provided by OpenAI:

  • AI brief: the description, answers and files you choose for a request are sent to prepare a short summary for the attorney.
  • Support assistant: the messages you write to Support in the app are sent to generate a first answer; a person takes over when needed.
  • Attorney verification: an attorney’s name, state and bar number may be sent to help our staff search public registries. A person makes the decision.

Before your request materials are sent to the AI provider, the app tells you who receives them and why and asks for your permission. You can refuse and write the description yourself. AI answers can be wrong and are not legal advice. The AI provider processes this information under its own terms as our service provider.

4. Who receives your information

  • The other side of your request. The attorney sees the request details you publish. Before the service day the client sees the attorney’s photo, state of license, languages and number of completed Lawber requests; the name, messages and calls become available on the service day.
  • Lawber staff who need it for their work (support, verification, payments). Support reads the messages of a request when reviewing a problem or dispute you opened, which you allow when opening it.
  • Service providers who process information for us:
    ProviderWhat for
StripeCard payments, holds, refunds, attorney payouts (Stripe Connect)

Calls go through our own call server and are not recorded.
  • When required by law or to protect the rights and safety of people using Lawber, for example in response to a valid legal request.

We do not sell your personal information and do not share it for targeted advertising.

5. How long we keep information

  • Account information is kept while your account exists.
  • Requests, payments, disputes, support decisions and the history of actions on a request are kept after a request is closed, because they are needed to complete payments and payouts, handle disputes and chargebacks, keep financial records and defend legal claims.
  • Messages of a request are kept with the request so that they can be reviewed if a problem is reported.
  • The attorney’s shared location is kept only as the latest point during the request and is removed when the request closes.
  • We are finalizing specific retention periods for each category with legal counsel. When they are approved, this section will list them, and older information will be deleted or de-identified accordingly.

6. Deleting your account

  • Delete your account in the app (Settings → Delete account) or at lawber.app/delete-account, where we confirm with a code sent to your sign-in email or phone that the account is yours. You don’t need the app installed.
  • If you have a request, payment, dispute, payout or support matter that is still open, your account is first closed for new requests and deleted automatically when nothing is left open. You can cancel this before it happens.
  • When the account is deleted we delete your profile (name, languages, address, attorney license details, settings), sign-in methods, device tokens and notifications, and all your sessions end. The email or phone number can then be used for a new account.
  • We keep the records described in “How long we keep information” — requests, payments, disputes and related messages — linked to a deleted account.
  • Files you uploaded (profile photo, verification documents, files in Documents and attachments) are stored separately. If you want them removed after deleting your account, send a request through Support.

7. Your choices and rights

  • You can see and change your profile in the app, choose which notifications you receive, turn location access and location sharing on or off in your device settings, and refuse the AI brief.
  • You can ask us for a copy of your information, to correct it or to delete it, through Support. We may ask you to confirm that the account is yours. Depending on the state where you live, you may have additional rights under state privacy laws; we will respond as those laws require.
  • We won’t treat you differently for using these rights.

8. Security

We use encrypted connections (HTTPS) between the app, website and our servers, one-time sign-in codes with attempt limits, access controls for staff and short-lived links to uploaded files that check who is asking. No system is completely secure; tell us through Support if you notice a problem.

9. Children

Lawber is for adults 18 and older. A request about a minor must be placed by an adult who is allowed to act for them.

10. Where information is processed

Lawber operates in the United States. Our servers and service providers may process information in the United States and in other countries where they operate.

11. Changes to this policy

We will update this policy when our practices change. Each version has a date at the top. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the app.

12. Contact
